History

Darbuka Productions was founded in 2001 as an audio recording company with the mission of providing musicians the highest quality recording at affordable rates. Our philosophy was "musicians recording musicians." Owner Jon Donald began life as a percussionist and conductor, specializing in contemporary chamber music. What he discovered was that traditional recording facilities were priced out of the range of the average musician—so Darbuka Productions came to life to meet the needs of ordinary musicians.

Darbuka Productions became a full service audio/video production facility in 2002. Our goal:  to offer the highest quality, creative services to all businesses, large and small, through the full range of media: DVD, CD, web delivery, print and commercial advertising. We specialize in working with small businesses to create visually exciting branding and messaging.

The Name - Darbuka

The company name reflects the owner's musical background as a percussionist. A darbuka is an hourglass-shaped hand drum from the Middle East and North Africa. It is held under one arm and played with the fingers and palms of both hands.
